LoCA Studio Program

After a year-long absence from our Mini-Lab program, LoCA introduced the Arts & Curatorial Studio Program (or LoCA-SP) on January 15, 2024.

We annually invite emerging artists, writers, and curators to apply to our new initiative, which has an international faculty of practising artists, art historians, curators, and writers to help and guide participants in artistic practices, art theory, writing and curatorial studies, research methodologies and professional development.

The LoCA-SP stems from the need to fill in the gap within Zambia's artistic practices that experience an enormous lack of critical reflection, and intellectual and infrastructural deficits; as well as the need to create local ecologies that employ a process of unlearning/relearning the local knowledge, histories, legacies, technologies and methods within our society.

We want to acknowledge and give special thanks to artist, Moshekwa Langa, and Paulina Rider Wilhelmsen for helping to make this transition less challenging.
